Will the iPad be the first touch tablet available? Hp-slate

iSlate? iPad? iTablet? These were the questions asked in December 2010 when rumors unleashed about a new product being released by Apple. It was suggested that it would be a device to browse the internet, enjoying photos, watching videos, listening to music, playing games, reading ebooks and more!

On the 27th January the answer finally was revealed. iPad. The device is similar to the iTouch although it is a lot bigger. With the launch of a new product Apple have finally considered pricing there products so that it will be more affordable, prices are estimated at $599 (US) for the 32GB model, $699 (US) for the 64GB model.

So to round up the iPad, a device that is revolutionary in the market of touch tablets and at an affordable price for an apple product of this size and the amount of space. So you’re sitting here thinking that this is all going well for Apple and it is releasing another quality, entertaining product.

The bomb shell hit when it was leaked that HP that have teamed up with Microsoft to release a tablet to resemble the iPad and the tablet to be called the slate ( Sound familiar? ) The new HP tablet is planned to run Windows 7 and to support Flash which will be something the iPad doesn’t and will be a disadvantage to iPad users when they won’t be able to Flash based sites or videos.

The HP tablet has not set release date but is reported to be available sometime in the next 12 months. Though HP has not released the specs yet, the company’s video shows a device that’s closer to the 9.7-inch display iPad in its design and size.
HP’s slate seems to offer a full capacitive touch screen and the familiar pinch-to-zoom gesture. Overall, the design resemblance to the iPad is startling, so the Slate could clearly be a tablet for those who want an iPad-like device on the Windows ecosystem.
The Slate has icons that lets users quickly access the browser and apps such as Pandora and the music player. And like the iPad, it will also display digitized versions of magazines and newspapers.

What are your views on this? Do you think that this is an obstacle for Apple or are the company going to walk straight past there competition and create something unique.

Nice.
I think the iPad is great due to the custom A4 processor which runs EFFICIENTLY at 1GhZ
and extraordinary battery life but it also has some serous flaws such as the Incapability to play flash video, A real downer that as many people would buy one for things such as bbc iplayer on the move or YouTube.
